Terms for collaboration

Wilde Ganzen Foundation believes in a sustainable approach and in a collaboration where transparency and equality are valued. Our conditions are intended to check if we (you as LPO, your PDI, the project and Wilde Ganzen Foundation) fit together.

If you are thinking about working with us, please keep the following in mind:

The Local Partner Organisation (LPO):

  1. is operating in a DAC country;
  2. is from or for people living in poverty, puts the (basic) needs and priorities of these people first and works demand driven;
  3. treats everyone equally and gives a voice to people living in poverty towards the local government and traditional power structures;
  4. considers every project as an opportunity to learn together during the journey towards realizing the end result;
  5. is a locally registered and independent organisation (foundation or association), this can also be a social enterprise;
  6. is not part of an international NGO or a bi- or multilateral institution;
  7. has an independent and well-functioning board: contains more than 1 person and operates independently of business interests, family ties or formalized connections with other organisations which could cause a conflict of interest;
  8. has no administrative overlap: its functions are performed by persons who are not members of the Dutch or Belgian partner organisation;
  9. has a bank account in the name of this organisation, for which signatory authority is established and requestable;
  10. is responsible for the application, implementation and reporting of the project that Wilde Ganzen Foundation co-finances;
  11. . contributes to these activities together with the primary stakeholders in terms of money, time or goods.

The Private Development Initiative (PDI)

We always work with organisations (not with individuals) that are registered in the Netherlands or Belgium.

This Private Development Initiative is a foundation (with a maximum of 3 FTE2) that is committed to international cooperation in a DAC country. This PDI can also be a social organisation; for example a school, a religious institution or a service club where a group of people (workgroup) maintains contact with the local partner organisation. Also a Dutch or Belgian foundation that originates froma company, raises funds and works on the involvement of Dutch or Belgian citizens in international cooperation can work with us as a PDI.

This Private Development Initiative, organized in a foundation or workgroup:

  1. is registered at the Chamber of Commerce;
  2. has an independent and well-functioning board: contains more than 1 person and operates independent of business interests, family ties or formalized connections with other organisations which could cause a conflict of interest;
  3. has no administrative overlap: its functions are performed by persons who are not members of the local partner organisation;
  4. raises part of the required funds itself (action result);
  5. does not receive any subsidy from the EU, Dutch government or other bi- and multilateral institutions for the project application to be submitted (small contributions from municipalities or from funds is possible, provided that sufficient attention is paid to point 6);
  6. contributes to social commitment among its supporters for international cooperation through communication, fundraising and educational activities;
  7. is willing to promote Wilde Ganzen Foundation;
  8. is willing to transfer the proceeds of the fundraising activities to the account of Wilde Ganzen Foundation, to receive a grant from Wilde Ganzen Foundation;
  9. signs the Ethical Code of Conduct
  10. works on local ownership by supporting a Local Partner Organisation (LPO) in a DAC country. This local ownership means, among other things, that we transfer the project budget to the bank account of the LPO;
  11. approaches Wilde Ganzen Foundation together with the Local Partner Organisation (LPO), for project funding, in which the initiative lies with the LPO.

The project

We see every project as an opportunity to strengthen and empower the local partner organisation and/or the local community. This can be a construction project or other service provision, but also training of professionals, organisational strengthening or campaigning and for example policy influencing from the community directed at the local government.

If you have a project plan and your PDI partner is willing to support this, then a number of things are important:

  1. the initiative and project (idea) originated locally and contributes directly to the wishes and needs of the local community. Therefore, community participation and involvement is visibly present in all phases of the project;
  2. the project takes place in a DAC country (more information) and contributes directly or indirectly to the Sustainable Development Goals;
  3. it is an investment to strengthen the organisation of the LPO or/and to economically empower people living in poverty;
  4. Wilde Ganzen Foundation does not contribute to operational and/or recurrent costs. However, in the project application we pay attention to whether these operational costs are guaranteed by means of a coverage plan;
  5. the project does not involve:
    a. individual aid
    b. emergency aid (but reconstruction is possible)
    c. activities aimed at evangelism
    d. transport costs from the Netherlands or Belgium (unless the product is not available regionally)
  6. the project can be carried out in 1 year;
  7. to ensure the ownership of the LPO over the project, Wilde Ganzen Foundation transfers the entire project budget to the account of the LPO, after the PDI has transferred the fundraising result to Wilde Ganzen;
  8. Wilde Ganzen will transfer the project budget in tranches of up to €50,000 if applicable (this will be laid down in the cooperation agreement);
  9. three parties (PDI, LPO and Wilde Ganzen) establish the collaboration contractually.
